Marvel Studios' WandaVision will reportedly get its own Disney Gallery documentary series next year, following in The Mandalorian's footsteps.
A new rumor has stated that WandaVision will be getting a Disney Gallery series debuting next year. Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian was released in May 2020, and consisted of eight episodes detailing the making of the flagship Disney+ original series. The series examined the making of the show, including the new technology used, cast, directors, music, and more, while also discussing the wider Star Wars universe.
For WandaVision, such a series could explore the different eras represented in the show, and dive into the Easter eggs and references that people who aren't fans of classic sitcoms might have missed. I'm sure there will be a lot more to discuss after the show has actually aired, because Marvel is clearly hiding as much as possible with this series.
If the rumors of Disney Gallery: WandaVision are true, it would mean that Disney had planned on making this series even when WandaVision wasn't the first Marvel Studios Disney+ original series. The rumor states that Disney was filming behind-the-scenes footage and interviews as early as the making of episode 1, which was filmed in front of a live studio audience. Based on this information, it seems that Disney wants to make as many documentary series as possible if they think fans will be interested in them - and WandaVision is definitely worthy of one!
I really hope this rumor is true, as I enjoyed Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian as well as Into the Unknown: The Making of Frozen II, and a documentary series for WandaVision will give fans an incredible glimpse into how Marvel Studios makes the movies (and now Disney+ series) that we love so much. I'd be particularly interested to hear from Jac Schaeffer, WandaVision's showrunner and head writer, since she also worked on Captain Marvel and Black Widow. I'd also love to hear what Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany thought of the storyline since they won't have to continue hiding spoilers!
