Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Rumored to Return for 'Spider-Man 3'

Is the live action Spider-Verse coming to theaters in 2021?

Over the past few days, rumors have been swirling about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their roles as Peter Parker in Spider-Man 3. Scoopers on social media have teased that Kevin Feige wants them, has them in talks, or has even already gotten them to sign their contracts. Grace Randolph has said that Maguire is holding out for more screen time, not more money, and wants to be an actual part of the movie with proper acting instead of a simple cameo. She also says that a possible idea includes all three Spider-Men swinging into Times Square together, which would be quite the sight!

However, it seems that while Feige definitely wants to bring these actors back, it hasn't happened yet. A Sony representative has officially stated that "those rumored castings are not confirmed". Note that the representative didn't actually deny the rumors, but just said that they're unconfirmed. To most fans, this says that the actors haven't yet been locked down, but there's still a possibility of Maguire and Garfield appearing.

I'd love to see the previous Spider-Man actors return in Spider-Man 3 or Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and given Doctor Strange's prominent role in the Spidey sequel as well as the return of Jamie Foxx's Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, I think there's a solid chance that we will see Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in the MCU very soon.

What do you think of these rumors? Do you want to see all three Spider-Men team up? Comment below!

The untitled Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel releases on December 17th, 2021.
