Nick Fury Series In Development for Disney+

Samuel L. Jackson will return as Nick Fury to lead a new Disney+ original series!

While plot details are currently unknown, Kyle Bradstreet (Mr. Robot) will write and executive produce.

Nick Fury has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since it began in 2008, appearing in 11 out of 23 films. He was most recently seen in Spider-Man: Far From Home, on a Skrull ship deep in space, while Talos posed as him on Earth.

This project joins WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If...?, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight as the latest upcoming Disney+ original series from the MCU.

While there's no official news on the storyline of this new show, there are some educated guesses we can make based on recent rumors. We know that there's a Secret Invasion series being developed that leads into Captain Marvel 2, which seems like the most likely candidate for this series. Secret Warriors is also in the works, a comics team famously led by Daisy Johnson/Quake, whose storyline recently ended in an alternate reality on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It's possible (although unlikely) that this could be that show, perhaps offering a way for the fan-favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. characters to re-enter the main MCU.

I think a Nick Fury series is a great idea, as I've missed his presence in the MCU - Fury's role shrank quite significantly after Avengers: Age of Ultron, and he turned out to be a Skrull for the entirety of Spider-Man: Far From Home. I'm also desperately hoping for characters like Quake and Melinda May to return as a proper part of the MCU, but I'm afraid it won't happen since Kevin Feige hates the Marvel TV division and their stories did wrap up very well in the series finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. over the summer. However, given that Daisy was last seen exploring space, it did seem to be a bit of a tease for the S.W.O.R.D. organization that Nick Fury appeared to be setting up in Far From Home (and we know S.W.O.R.D. will appear in WandaVision).

What do you think about this new development? Would you prefer the show to be Secret Warriors or Secret Invasion? Do you want to see the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. characters mix with the larger MCU? Comment below!
