Following in the footsteps of The Mandalorian, WandaVision is getting its own documentary special!
As many people suspected following the success of Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian and Into the Unknown: The Making of Frozen II, the Disney+ behind-the-scenes documentaries continue with the announcement of a new series: Marvel Studios' Assembled! However, in contrast to the previous documentary series, each episode of Assembled will focus on a single Marvel Cinematic Universe film or Disney+ original series. The first episode, Assembled: The Making of WandaVision, will release on March 12th - one week after the WandaVision season (series?) finale and one week before The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series premiere.
Assembled will document the production of WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, Black Widow, and Hawkeye through exclusive on-set footage and interviews with cast and crew. Each documentary special episode will release soon after theatrical releases or series completions, and will provide an immersive look at the making of Phase Four.
I'm very excited for Assembled, although I was hoping that WandaVision would be getting an entire series to itself much like The Mandalorian. Hopefully these episodes are each upwards of 90 minutes long, as I found the single hour and a half episode for Season 2 of The Mandalorian a bit lacking compared to the eight episodes we got for Season 1. I'm sure we'll be seeing documentaries for every MCU project from here on out, and I can't wait to see what production on these fan-favorite projects actually looks like. I loved the Frozen II documentary series because of how in-depth it was, and I feel like I learned a lot about animated film production in a short time. Hopefully we get to see something similar (and, more importantly, blue Vision) in the WandaVision episode!
