'Loki' Release Delayed by One Month

The release date for Loki, the third Marvel Studios Disney+ Original Series, has been revealed - but it's one month later than expected...

With WandaVision wrapping up next Friday on Disney+ and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier less than a month from its series premiere, all eyes are on now on Loki's release date - and surprisingly, it's one month later than expected. Loki will begin its 6-episode first season on June 11th, after previously being confirmed for a May 2021 release. Loki is confirmed to tie into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, making it part of the multiverse arc that begins in WandaVision and continues through Spider-Man: No Way Home. Tom Hiddleston reprises his role as Loki from the Thor and Avengers franchises and Owen Wilson plays Mobius M. Mobius, a member of the Time Variance Authority. Gugu Mbatha-Raw also portrays a member of the TVA while Sophia DiMartino, Sasha Lane, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant have been cast in undisclosed roles.

The reason for the series' delay is unknown, but it's unexpected given how much content Marvel Studios has to offer in 2021. Besides WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki, Marvel Studios is also releasing What If...? Season 1, Ms. Marvel, and Hawkeye on Disney+ later this year, not to mention Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, and Spider-Man: No Way Home in theaters. With 10 MCU projects in 2021, it was expected that a new episode or film would be releasing almost every Friday of the year, so a month without anything seems strange. However, Marvel could be leaving wiggle room in case Black Widow needs to be delayed again, or they could be doing a simultaneous release on Disney+ and in theaters and leaving some time for the film to be seen before launching into Loki.

Are you excited for Loki? Do you think the second half of 2021 is going to be overloaded with MCU content? Is Black Widow really going to be delayed again, or will Marvel send it to Disney+? Comment below!
