LEGO's next 18+ exclusive set has been revealed: 10283 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery! Part of the Creator Expert line, this set continues a tradition of space-focused LEGO sets, including 10266 NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander from the same theme. LEGO Ideas has been churning out NASA sets for years as well, with recent arrivals 21309 NASA Apollo Saturn V and 21321 International Space Station proving exceptionally popular.
The Space Shuttle Discovery includes a model of the Hubble Space Telescope, which can be stored within the shuttle or removed and displayed separately. The reflective paneling on the opening doors are created with mirrored stickers, which will be a pain to apply to the concave surface of the pieces. However, I don't see a way that the reflective effect could have been achieved without this type of sticker.
A small interior with five seats is included in the shuttle's nose, although sadly there are no astronaut nanofigures to sit in them.
The 2,354-piece 10283 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery launches on April 1st at LEGO Shop@Home and LEGO Stores for $199.99 USD. I loved space shuttles as a kid and would love to get this, but with all the other amazing D2C sets that I have yet to buy, I'm probably going to hold off on this one for a little while.
