'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania' Announced

The third film in the Ant-Man franchise has found its cast!

At tonight's Walt Disney Investor's Day presentation, Kevin Feige officially announced the third film in the Ant-Man trilogy. Peyton Reed is returning to direct Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which features an all-star cast of returning Marvel heroes and some new faces. Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly return as Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne, while Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer also reprise their roles as Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne, the original Ant-Man and the Wasp. Kathryn Newton replaces Emma Furhmann (Avengers: Endgame) as grown-up Cassie Lang, Scott's daughter, who will presumably become the hero Stature in this film before joining the Young Avengers. Finally, Jonathan Majors enters the franchise as time-traveling villain Kang the Conqueror, although he's rumored to make his debut in Loki on Disney+ first.

I love the name of this movie. It's ridiculous and perfectly captures the jokey nature of the Ant-Man films - it sounds exactly like something Scott Lang would say. I hope we also see the return of Bill Foster and Ava Starr/Ghost, as her fate was left ambiguous following the cliffhanger ending of Ant-Man and the Wasp. My biggest hope for the third (and probably final) Ant-Man adventure is that we finally see Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne suit up alongside their daughter. With Cassie Lang on a path towards becoming Stature and the possible return of Bill Foster and Ava Starr, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania could be a wonderful, multi-generational family adventure as it introduces insane concepts and dangerous villains to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will presumably release in 2023.
